Few activities can create such a strong impression as a speech. A good speech can convince and sway an audience in a way that no other kind of communication can. But a bad speech can bore, irritate or confuse an audience and will be a terrible advertisement for an organisation. Most people are terrified of the idea of speaking in public and try their best to avoid having to do it. So it’s small wonder that, when they eventually do have to make a speech, they make a terrible job of it. Fortunately even the most inexperienced and shy person can be trained to speak effectively and this is what this course will do.
Anyone who needs to speak to groups of any size.
This course will ensure that those who have to make presentations to groups, understand the basic concepts of targeting, preparing and delivering a speech.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Decide on an appropriate objective for a public presentation
- Prepare a speech to achieve the stated objective
- Prepare notes to assist delivery
- Select and utilise appropriate visual aids
- Deliver a speech in a manner appropriate to your own personality
- Handle questions effectively
The course will incorporate a range of learning methods, all of which will include a high degree of delegate involvement. You will have the opportunity to practise the skills and techniques discussed and will have the opportunity to undertake video-recorded presentations, about which you will receive informed and constructive feedback.
